Hello All,

I suppose this is wandering a bit off topic, but regarding COVID-19 disinfectant... My local hospital advises:

Diluting your household bleach.
To make a bleach solution, mix:

    5 tablespoons (1/3rd cup) bleach per gallon of water
    OR
    4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water

Most household bleach is between 6%-8% Sodium Hypochorite

Therefore, if we make 1 gallon (128 oz) from 6% household bleach:
5 tablespoons = 2.5 oz
Dilution Law: V1*C1=V2*C2
C2=V1*C1/V2
C1 = 6
V1 = 2.5
V2 = 128
C2 = 2.5×6÷128 = 0.1171875
Note: 0.1171875 ÷ 0.057 (Wound Wash) = 2.06,
a little over twice the sodium Hypochorite concentration of Wound Wash

Using 8% Sodium Hypochorite bleach:
C2 = 2.5×8÷128 = 0.15625 ÷ 0.057 (Wound Wash) = 2.7,
nearly x3 the Sodium Hypochorite concentration of Wound Wash.

Using my program which degrades C1@ 20% annual since {2019,11,1,0,0,0}:

eui DiluteSolution2.ex 6 128 .16
Use 3.9 oz of C1 + 124.1 oz of (distilled) water
to make 128 oz solution of 0.16% Sodium Hypochlorite
3.9 oz = 23.4 tsp
                7.8 tblsp
                    0.468 cup
                        115.3 ml

3.9/128 = 0.03046875 * $22.00 (price of 1 gal 6% bleach) = $0.67
Which is a lot cheaper than retail 2% cleaner bleach for household services
And might even be a satisfactory hand wash.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

Any comments or suggestions?

Regards,
Ken
