It'd be nice if there was someone willing to pursue this. It's a bug that's been around for a while and it would be nice to get it fixed.
Of course, if you think a rewrite is a better option, that's fine too.

And if so, is there an earlier version of Eu which has a switch that works in all cases, or has it been broken from the beginning?
My understanding is that 4.0 works. The code for 4.0 is quite different though, I'm not sure when it changed or why.
