<SOAPBOX> I disagree strongly with the statement that this week has been "junk mail." The reminiscence on games long gone is an important component to deciding the direction WE intend to go with OUR programs. Many people on this list have expressed a desire to create entertainment software in Euphoria. It's a hard thing to do; there are many creative, stylistic, and technical issues involved, ASIDE from just programming. Anyone can program, especially in Euphoria. Game development takes more. "how do I make something challenging AND fun?" is something you don't find in programming manuals. "How can I exercise my wits as well as my reflexes?" is something you discover by looking back at those games that made you react in a certain way, and picking them apart, looking for what made them great, then incorporating those ideas in your project. That being said, I think we can, and should, endeavor to tighten up our messages a bit and post mainly on the topic(s) at hand, and not get sucked into arguments and flame wars. That is unproductive. If I or anyone else on here offends you, reply privately in e-mail without BROADCASTING it to everyone on here. Odds are they don't care, even if you have a particularly witty retort to the person in question. </SOAPBOX> Michael Packard Lord Generic Productions lgp at exo.com http://exo.com/~lgp A Crash Course in Game Design and Production http://exo.com/~lgp/euphoria
