With the new 64 bit cpu sporting 970 pins (128 pins out to memory), i can
now laugh back at those who laughed at me when i designed a cpu core with
about 1000 pins way back when. A cpu with 128 wide memory buss should
absolutely fly thru dos 16 bit code, shouldn't it? blink

No need to rush. Although the athlon64 is pretty cool (not so much because
of its 64-bit capabilities, but because of its larger number of registers),
the fastest mainstream processor today still seams to be the P4EE. And with
the p4 prescott just being released and Intel pushing their mainstream
64-bit plans forward, a good ol' p4/athlon is still a good choice (imo).
