1. Bug in exotica
Hi!
I got Windows98. Now, when exotica program is finished it leaves this =
one empty button into my statusbar. Some times it contains this text: =
"TITLE NAME"
Quess you got a bug, Todd
I have started to rewrite my 3D engine for Exotica. The engine, which I =
sented to list was a version of my test engine. This one's gonna be =
complete ;)
btw, I made few little changes to emain.ew and now it works just how I =
wanted :)

Hrmmm... Me get nothings like thats on my windows 98...
Does this happen randomly with any example? I'll try to look for it
in the Exotica emain.ew, but that bug doesn't creep up
on me, so it will probably be hard for me to find, if there is one.
If anyone else is reading this email that tried the Exotica examples,
has this happend to you in Win95 or Win98???

Very cool, indeed! :) The emain.ew is there as an example. Anyone can
change it to their heart desires. I need to reflect this in me docs.

this is not actually a bug in Exotica. It seems to be a bug in DirectX
itself.
Certain games will also exibit this behavor. For example, Half-life will
do this 3/4 of the time on my system, Darkstone does
it about half the time, and Diablo always does it. Your mileage may vary,
but the one thing all these games have in common
is DirectX.

It could be. Some games do it rarely on my machine too, but my screen =
saver does it also sometimes.

At a guess, I would agree with James. I do remember a couple of times
when after exiting from different non-DX applications, a no-named
taskbar
application slot still remained in my taskbar until I ran my mouse
cursor
over it and it automagically disappeared. I'm guessing either it's
just one of them MS Windows perks or I'm actually forgetting something
to release the application 100% on a exit. Hopefully it's not the
later because I can't find anything wrong with the way I do it. Plus,
it's not happening to me currently.

I notice that this happens quite often for me, on my win98 box, with direct x
games. An example is
Fallout 1 and 2, with it happening about 80% of time.
