How come I have gotten very few e-mails about my lemon headz game? Has nobody played it? I don't see why not, It's a pretty cool game, It's free, and I even released all the source code. -Mark.

Any game that doesn't fit on a floppy usually doesn't get downloaded. I think RDS had some comment on their site about it taking 3+ hours to download, as well. That's not meant to say that there are no great games greater than a Meg in size, or you don't have a great game - it's just that download time (I have a slow modem) and free disk space (what's that?) are factors. -- David Cuny

I downloaded it and it took less then an hour but when I went to unzip it came up with a checksum error. It was probably my bungy harddisk that caused the problem and haven't tried again yet. I do intend to again sometime... The screen shot does look very impressive!!!! If I take out all the sounds the zip file will probably be less than 1 Mb. -Mark.

The music is great! The game is great! A couple of suggestions -- the strobed credits last a very long time (IMO) and the "I AM THE CREATOR" thingy also lasts an equally excessively long time (IMO). Credits will be remembered if the game is fun, and making the potential player wait, while your name/credits are repeatedlly presented is likely to have a good proportion of people deciding to move over to the nearest game machine or something (maybe the refrigerator). Remember, the goal of the player is to play... I must also say that from my perspective it is nice to have a game that doesn't involve violence -- with all the violence already in the world it really boggles the mind to consider simulating more for recreational enjoyment... This game was quite enjoyable, and the sounds are definitely a MUST! Thanks for a fun game! Cheers! --Warren

Mark I just downloaded and tried Lemon Headz, without the sound. I like it. I agree with the comments about the startup - it's too long, and the stroby stuff is pretty hard to watch. I'd appreciate a bit of an intro screen that explained a bit of what's going on, what the goals are, and what the controls are, etc. I tried the "code" screen and got a nice tunnel graphic, but then the system hung. I don't like being called a quitter when I leave the game - who needs a game that gives a lot of lip? Bye Martin

Intro sequences are nice, so long as they aren't too long, or hard to watch. Why not something a little less blunt, like "What are ya, a quitter? =)" > Bye > Martin One more concern, and I'll leave you be =) The transition fades are too long. The game is relatively fast paced, so, to keep up the flow of the game, 1 second fades would do better than the 4 or 5 second ones you have in there. At any rate, I thank you for a great contribution to the Euphoria community, and keep up the good work! Greg Phillips

>How come I have gotten very few e-mails about my lemon headz game? I don't have any thing against downloading the game - it only takes about 30 mins on my system. But I've tried 4 times now, and every time the server has reset, or the download stops about 1 min short. I'm not sure why. Any way, perhaps I'll try again, and can give you something more then. Thanks for everyone's replies about Lemon Headz. I can't make better games if i don't know what's good/bad about the ones i've already done. There's been some problems with memory leaks causing the program to do random things that it shouldn't occasionaly, the cod i have at the moment seems to work fine on most computers, but if i try adding anything else it goes crazy.. I think the problems may be caused by my modified SFX2.E I don't think it's meant to be used the way i have it working.. How ever, i'm looking into making a new sound player, i'm getting a bunch of info and stuff.. The intro screen can simply be skipped at any time by pressing space, enter of Esc. Sorry about the quitter thing, I just added that kinda at the last minute cos there was a blank screen doing nothing.. If you want to find out how to play, then read the "readme.txt" file. it should answer a few questions. Hopefuly my next game will be a whole lot better than Lemon Headz. I was kinda in a hurry to produce lemon headz. -Mark.

Hey Mark, I finally got the game downloaded like I wanted - I got the version with sound. Anyway, I pretty much agree with what everone else said, though I'm not as concerned about the intro since, as you say, we can simply push a button and move on. I thought the music was right in sinc with the theme of the game. Down the road, you might consider adding some more options - sound volume, screen brightness, etc., if you'd like to make this a serious, even saleable, game. But there was some progression of enemies and weapons from what I've seen, those are also plus points. Well, that's all for now. I mess with it some in a short while and add anything else. Good luck, Isaacj

>How come I have gotten very few e-mails about my lemon headz game? 5 Meg is a lot of download I got your soundless version yesterday. much less strain on my modem I like the game, it's quite fun to play, however As the game is a download I think you should have some sort of on line tutorial. I personally started to play straight away, then after five mins had to quit and read the readme documant to figure out what the object was. Boxed games from the shop's have the luxury of a booklet in which to simple instructions, downloads have to have a readme. you cannot idley browse a readme while installing the game/unpacking it. The other point, and one of the reasons I had to stop playing to RTFM, was the game has no feed back as to when I'm hitting the monsters. I sat there banging away (at the keyboard) and the only thing obviously happening was me dying (I am a lousy shot). Minor point; the game intro is fine I found the esc key to skip it. However, on my video card, at least, the fades seem very flickery. Overall I do like the game, It has shown me what can be done with Euphoria. I will now try to down load the version with sound at the week end. Keep up the msot exelant work.

I downloaded the sound version after playing the no sound version. It ROCKS. For those not of the English-American slang compatibility... It is very fast, quite addictive, the levels that I have played so far are fun...my girlfriend even liked it, and thought it was fun to play. ...my only question is (since the little guy looks like a lime...)why didn't you call it limonhedz? l8tr Monty -----Original Message----- From: Caballero Rojo <ebonvehi at CPSARG.COM> To: EUPHORIA at LISTSERV.MUOHIO.EDU <EUPHORIA at LISTSERV.MUOHIO.EDU> Date: Friday, May 21, 1999 10:40 PM Subject: Re: Lemon Headz Try it, and for those people who doesn´t have sound yet. The first character is limehead. The first game only had the one character, LemonHead. The second character in this game is LemonHead. He is more powerful and is meant to be played as the MAIN character. Tried it out. Looks good, well put together. I think you should tinker with the actual main character control, perhaps add a bit of inertia. It's not very fluid to manouver. Seems to move quite fast (not that this is a bad thing) Is it based on timed events? or will it run at diffrent speeds on diffrent machines? All in all, an excellent demo, but I'm stuck at level 2. I blow away a heap of walls, but there dosn't seem to be anywhere to go. Am I missing something? Graeme. ----------------------------------------------------
