i'll admit only tried it on a few different ARM systems with gcc 4.7, 4.8 & 4.4 but it looks like the workaround for infinity lines 61-67 can be removed as it seems to work ok without it on everything i've tried in the last couple of days

Hmm. Is there some kind of gcc version test we can use instead, in case someone is still using gcc 3 or something?
